Try putting in the boot floppy and typing "Linux 3" w/o the quotes at the
LILO prompt. That should work. Alternately, you can let it boot into KDE,
and then hit CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE This should kick you out to a prompt and
allow you to change your XF86Config file, too.

I just installed Linux Mandrake 6.0 last week and ended up with 1024X768
resolution. I wanted 800x600 so ran XF86Config. Before doing this I saved a
copy of the XF86Config file. Once I finished with the new configuration my
video was screwed and all I get is unreadable fuzz. I thought, No problem,
I can boot up from the floppy and get into a text shell and re-instate my
old XF86Config file.
Wrong! I can't get the box to boot from the Floppy. The problem with
booting from hda is that it is setup to boot into KDE. Is there any way to
stop it from booting into KDE so I can fix my video problem?
