I recently installed Mandrake 7 on my laptop, and things went mostly
alright, with the exception of my sound card and PCMCIA SCSI adapter.
I could not find the latter in any of the supported hardware lists (plus
it's both PCMCIA and SCSI, which I presume would make it a nightmare to
support), so fair enough, but what about the card?

I used Lothar, soundconfig and sndconfig to try to get it to work, but to
no avail, even though I gave wach of these setup utilities the exact
settings that the card succesfully uses under Windows 98. By altering them
at random, I got to hear the funny Linus Torvalds testing sample, but the
MIDI wouldn't work, and as a result, none of the utilities would let me
use the card (just because the midi wouldn't work, which I don't even care
about!)

Can you shed some light on to this please? I am not clueless (technical
support specialist for Windows platforms by profession), but I am a
beginner with Linux.

Thank you in advance for your help,
