Mandrake 6.0 and up have been optimized for Pentium class machines, and thus
MAY not work w/486. You might try an older version like 5.3, or try a distro
that has not been Pentium optimized. With 16M RAM X will run, albeit rather
sluggishly with KDE (possible worse w/Gnome). But for Word processing and
e-mail it should be OK.
