problem I'm having is that my connection lasts only 2-3 minutes before it
disconnects. Also during the connection I cant seem to get to the internet.
Has anyone had this problem before? Am I connecting correctly? Please any
help will be appreciated.

Have you edited /etc/resolv.conf ??
add:
search <your isp>
nameserver <dns#>
nameserver <dns#> #your isp should provide you with two dns#'s

You might also try adjusting the port speed. If you use a 56k modem, make
sure port speed is set to at least 115,200.
