FWIW, I installed MDK 7.1 onto a hard drive connected to a PCI Promise Ultra66 IDE controller card and had *NO* promblems. Mandrake deserves a pat on the back. <wearing a BIG grin> To install Caldera eDesktop 2.4 onto a HD connected to a Promise Ultra66 was a bit complicated, so there is a Step-by-Step to walk a newbie through it (http://www.linux.nf/stepbystep.htm)(click the "Ultra66" link and then click the "Promise" link). Hope that helps someone, Matt >From: Denis HAVLIK <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: [newbie] Promise UDMA-66 problems solved? >Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 16:30:51 +0200 (CEST) > >Hi > >In short, we have some workarounds, but we need a lot of people to test >this workarounds, berfore finaly announcing "Yes, we got it!". > >More details on http://linuxpole.com/ ;-> > > >Other topics: > >* Mandrake 7.1: 2 Steps forward .. 4 steps back ?:-o >* Do you like this forum? >* Software for my hardware, please? >* Do people ever read the documentation? >... > >cu > Denis >-- >----------------------------------------------------- >Dr. Denis Havlik <http://www.ap.univie.ac.at/users/havlik> >Mandrakesoft ||| e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Quality Assurance (@ @) (private: [EMAIL PROTECTED]) >-------------------oOO--(_)--OOo--------------------- >visit our new discusion forum: http://linuxpole.com > ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
