Not 500, but 700 works fine.  I've used Mandrake on AMD K6-2 350, AMD
K6-3 450 and now Athlon 700.  Currently I'm using 7.1 with kernel
2.4.0-0.9mdk and when recompiling, I noticed that there are now Athlon
optimizations built into the kernel!
