you may already know this but, at the console type 'ps -A'
this gives a list of all running tasks, on the left next to each task will be
an id number, ie:

942 ? 00:00:03 sawmill

1016 ? 00:00:00 gnome-name-serv
1035 ? 00:00:01 deskguide_apple
1037 ? 00:00:01 tasklist_applet
1043 ? 00:00:00 kppp
1074 ? 00:00:14 ld-linux.so.2
1091 ? 00:00:00 netscape-commun
1102 ? 00:00:07 kmail
1130 ? 00:00:00 gnome-terminal
1131 ? 00:00:00 gnome-pty-helpe
1132 pts/0 00:00:00 bash
1145 pts/0 00:00:00 ps
so if say you want to kill kmail, type 'kill 1102'
if you don't have permission , just su it, then kill task

now for me, have posted a number of messages to the board and none got through,
ive been using kmail, to send the message to '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
