[newbie] LM 7.1 on gnome getting seg faults

ever since installing 7.1 most of the time iam getting seg faults on alot of my
programs; that worked fine in 7.0. getting them alot on gnome control center.
is this this because of the unstable kernel release version on 7.1 '2.2.1.5'.
have tried installing and reinstalling the version several times, but in the
end i switched back to 7.0, but i want to use sawmill and gnome, can anyone
help?
