I am struggling to get my new computer with a voodoo5
setup and running in mandrake 7.1. When I do the
intitial install, it sets me up with a frame buffer
kernel. It works but not for anything fun like quake3
or UT. The installer installs version 3.3.6 and 4.0
of X.

I've been told that I need to use the latest
development release of X (by Marc actually) because I
have a microsoft intellimouse explorer optical and
there is a known bug with the X4 series and those mice
that is fixed in that build.

I can get those files but I'm not sure exactly what to
do after that. Obviously install them but, assuming
that it goes well, what do I need to do after that to
make the voodoo5 work for hardware acceleration?

there are drivers on linux.3dfx.com for the voodoo5.
Are those the ones that I need?

Usually I can figure out my linux box by reading
everything I can get my hands on for a week or so. In
this case though I am working with issues that are a
little too new to have really good documentation yet.

Please, I really need help here. I've been trapped in
windows for the last two weeks against my will.

Thank you all.
