[newbie] Kmail / Sendmail question

I have not been able to find wether KMail uses Sendmail to process the
incoming and outgoing mail; does anyone know ?

I would like to know if putting the domain names of persistent spammers 
in /etc/hosts.deny will help when using KMail.
