[newbie] app like Adobe Photoshop/photodeluxe

Hi all,

does anyone know of any apps that have the bells and whistles for 
manipulating photos and digital images as does the Adobe packages  ?  I've 
started doing some work retouching old B/W images, but would prefer porting 
it all over to the linux side.
