Here is what I did:
Go to the Linux-Mandrake site. Look for the link to HardDrake (LHS under
the curly-haired penguin). Download the 3 detect-xxx files and
HardDrake. You will also need to go to the LM RPM's and get the alsa
RPM. Install all of the above as root - these are all newer than the
ones on the LM7.1 CD. Then run HardDrake, click on the sound card, etc.
It worked well for me. Also turn the volume down a bit, since you may
have it all the way up - HD "tells" you it is installed, and that nearly
blew my speakers and eardrums out!
