1) you MUST be root to run xf86config 2) Do you know anything about your video card and monitor? Because you'll need it to setup the proper xserver. --- Original Message --- "Krulo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Wrote on Mon, 13 Nov 2000 12:43:02 -0000 ------------------ well here is my situation: I'm under a PI 120, 81Mb RAM, Mandrake 7.1 I already made it to setup sound card and ethernet but now the only thing that I could do before (configuring X) is making me MAD! this is what I get from some commands in the console: XConfigurator bash: XConfigurator : command not found startx Fatal Server error: No valid modes found. xf86config /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config : modeline : command not found /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config : mode : command not found /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config : endmode : command not found setuptool bash: setuptool : command not found but my XF86Setup works! but when I try any of the combinations for the modes I always get a "no valid mode found" running "startx". isn't there any autoprobe or something like that to detect my card and valid modes 4 it? tx ----- Sent using MailStart.com ( http://MailStart.Com/welcome.html ) The FREE way to access your mailbox via any web browser, anywhere!
