Well ladies and germs, I snooped in the newbie and
the expert archives and I saw some things about
lpd but, not enough to inform me of what
I need to do.
I have an olllld HP Deskjet, just Deskjet
nothing else after no number or anything.
It is obviously a black and white printer
but, I still wonder how to get the lpd
running, I can dump text into the
/dev/lp0 port and I'm running
Mandrake 7.0-2
So I cannot install KUPS or cups,
can't upgrade just yet,
I have some more issues to deal
with.
I think I am seriously missing something
about the lpd daemon as it will not
do anything, netscape print function just
errors as: lpr lp lp printer unknown,
is it possible to also use fonts with
this printer?
