[newbie] Mandrake 2.4 latest test kernel crashes after 5 mins?

I decided to give the new 2.4 test kernel a try out, downloading from a 
cooker mandrake rpm site, but this kernel crashes my pc after 5 minutes of 
browsing/ using xmms, machine just locks, anyone guess any reason, Maybe I 
have an idea. the kernel seems to load some superprobe thingy , This detects 
my LPT port even though I have disabled it in CMOS set up to gain extra IRQ 
(my IRQ's are full!) maybe this is interfering with Sound card which is using 
IRQ 5 & 7, 

any other ideas?,
