Login as root, get to a command prompt, then type this in:

passwd

You will be prompted to enter the new one, then enter it again for
verification.

Easy, huh?

Subject: [newbie] how do I change root and user passwords?

I need to change passwords so my ex-partner can't telnet into my linuxbox.
What are the commands?
I tried changing root through Linuxconf but it wouldn't take.
Thanks alot
Becky
