Hi!

I'm trying to install the ALSA sound drivers for my ESS Maestro-3i sound card (I have
a dual-boot Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop with Win 98 and Mandrake 7.0-2). When compiling
the ALSA utils, I get the error that ncurses.h cannot be found. True enough, the file
is nowhere to be found. I have ncurses 5.1-8mdk installed, but there are no header
files included with that package. How do I install the ncurses header files in the
simplest way? Everything seems to depend on ncurses so I'd rather not mess with it too
much.

I've tried downloading the source code for v. 5.1 from gnu.org but the compile failed
because something else was missing, and I don't want to have to install more and
more... I've been down that road before. Apparently, there is something wrong with
5.1-8mdk source package at rpmfind and they do not recommend it, so I did not try that.

Any help is appreciated, as I'd love a little sound...

Olof
