I ran nmap on my system and found that I have a lot of open ports (apparently I have a lot of network services running).  For example, MySQL, FTP, HTTP, etc.  My question is, how much of a security risk is this, and how do I shut of these services and/or close these ports?  Does the x11 port need to be left open for x to function?  I know this must be a common question, I tried researching all over the place, but I can't seem to get a good understanding of how to actually do the stuff.  Thanks, all!
