ok,
ata 100 is an ide based solution.  Not SCSI
2 ata 100 can be turned off in the bios, reducing the system to a more normal ata 33 which is supported.

I thought ata 100 was supported, but, .....
steelhead.

Subject: [newbie] i need help with installation

  I have Mandrake 7.2 and RedHat 7.0
When I try to install Mandrake it keeps on telling me "do you have any scsi devices?"
When I say "no" it just ignores it and keeps on telling me "yes or no". But when I click yes it's unable to find the drivers for it.
So i'm stuck at this level of installation.
I think that's because linux doesn't support ata/100.
