Sorry for reposting this, but I forgot a subject.

I'm having a problem with my internet connection on Linux-Mandrake.
I've
just installed LM 7.2, and the connection is very slow. I know it's
not the
servers because my Windows connection works just fine, so I'm trying
to
figure out if my configuration is wrong. Here are my ping results
from 2
nearby servers (I'm on Georgia Tech's campus)

--- acme.gatech.edu ping statistics ---
361 packets transmitted, 173 packets received, 52% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0.7/1.2/10.5 ms

--- oscar.cc.gatech.edu ping statistics ---
172 packets transmitted, 82 packets received, 52% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 1.3/2.1/6.1

Here's my internet configuration as of now (using linuxconf):
Adapter1: Enabled, Dhcp on, primary name + domain =
pianoman.resnet.gatech.edu (I've also tried r65h13.res.gatech.edu);
IP
address = 128.61.65.13, netmask = 255.255.255.0, Net device = eth0,
Kernel
module = 3c59x.
DNS servers listed (automatically): 128.61.15.251, 130.207.244.251,
128.61.15.244
Gateway: 128.61.65.1 (same as on Windows OS); I've tried enabling
routing
and disabling it
Routed daemon config: I've tried both not exporting any routes and
exporting
my default route
Host name search path: hosts, dns, multiple IPs for one host

I've also tried having no other networking services running and some
running, but neither had an effect.

I've also had LM 8.0 running, and the connection was still slow. My
ethernet
card is a 3Com 3c905C-TX [Fast Etherlink]. My Hardware profile says
it
should use the 3c59x Kernel Module.

I think that's all the information I can give. If anyone has any
idea why my
connection is slow on Linux (but not on Windows) and could help me
correct
the problem, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
