You might try just doing and "ifup eth0" and see if the network comes back up. I've seen this before and am trying to remember the fix. Let you know if I come up with a better solution. I guess somthing blew out the cards setup?? ifup eth0 reports: 3c509 device does not seem to be present, delaying eth0 initialization
