you can ping to your ISP ip i.e. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx but cannot open a
page like google.com ?
if this is the case, then simply edit your /etc/resolv.conf and add
the entry of your ISP DNS resolver.

nameserver    ip_of_your_isp_dns_server
nameserver    ip_of_your_isp_secondary_dns_if available
