Did you check your iso to be fair? In www.linuxiso.org there is a programa
that checks the health of the downloaded iso. There is also HOWTOs to burn
the cd.

If you want to go ahead, I´m afraid you´ll have to download the iso again.

Subject: [newbie] CD Boot problem for Mandrake 8.1 on PPC

Hi all.

I have been flicking through the lists but cannot find a definitive
answer. I think that someone else must have gone through this.

I down loaded Mandrake 8.1 ISO yesterday. Very painful. I used a
download manager, but the number of restarts was amazing. The servers
just can't keep up I think.

I burnt the ISO image onto the CD with Nero.

When I reboot the Mac with C held down.. nothing.
When I select the boot disk to be the CD and reboot, I see the symbol
that tells me its looking .. but then again nothing.

The thing that is confusing me is that there is no files at the top
level of the CD file system. All there are are directories with
installation files in. How can this work?

Are there files missing? What should be at the top level?

Is there any requirement to burn in a special format? I can read the CD
when I am in MacOS so I assume that the CD format is OK.

Any advise would be great.

Paul
