When one switches to F1 thru F6 virtual console screens, the login splash screen generated by /etc/issue has a penguin graphic and a whole bunch of lines of annoying text. I can edit the /etc/issue file so it only shows the screen number (tty#) but every time I reboot, the system overwrites the /etc/issue file that I created with Mandrake's lengthy splash/login screen.
How can I modify the system so it will quit doing that? Such a gaudy login screen seems all too much like some M$ nuisance tactic :( [EMAIL PROTECTED]
