Could you try "locate cpp0" from the command line and see if you have it
installed.  On my 8.1 system it turns up in the directory tree under
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/...  There are versions for gcc 2.96 and 3.0.1.
The permissions are 755 and they belong to root.
