Bad luck on getting the checksum failure. I am surprised rpminst does not confirm the checksums before installing anything. Unless the problem is actually writing on your hard drive? You can confirm if java is actually installed with rpm -q j2re If it comes back and says it is not installed then you should be able to download the file again and reinstall. All the existing files will just get overwritten. If it is installed then rpm -e <whatever the last command returned> will remove it. HTH derek
