One more quick question and thanks for the help - I listen to a local radio station but now cannot get it because I am using Linux with Firefox. When I go to the page now, Firefox says it is missing a plugin (Windows Media Player), but can I install a Windows program in Firefox to play my station since it is a Linux operating system?

Add the plf free and plf non-free urpmi sources and install mplayer and the mplayer plugin from there.

You'll also need the win32 and real codecs from plf as well.

The plf versions include things that can't be installed by the MDK install for various licensing reasons. You'll need these additional things that the plf version has to play the streams you are looking to play.

Go here to add the plf sources (add some others too, contribs, distribution, and any others you are interested in):

Make sure to select your version of Mandrake/Mandriva from the drop-down box and follow the instructions on the site, pasting the commands into a console as root (open a console, type the commands "su", supply the root password, then paste the commands one at a time, allowing each to finish before pasting another.)

Once you have the sources installed, open the Mandriva control center, go to the "add software" section, type in win32, add these codecs, type in real, add these codecs, then type in mplayer and add mplayer and the mplayer plugin. There'll likely be some dependencies needed, allow MCC to install these too.

Then enjoy.

If you can't get the stream to play then, send along the URL and I'll take a look and see what else you might need.
