Hmm. I do not know what to suggest now.
I tried compiling the src.rpm myself, and it compiled cleanly, but I am
running Mandriva 2005LE not 10.0

As I mentioned before you may find it less effort to upgrade to 2005LE.
There are a number of ways to get 2005LE
1/ Download an iso from Mandrake Club (membership required)
2/ Download a 14MB boot iso from any mirror and perform a network install
3/ Purchase CDs from a CD copying company
4/ Upgrade from a mirror using 'urpmi' (see the Twiki for instructions)

I always do number 4, but you need to be reasonably experienced to work out
what to do if it does not work as expected.
