Go to the Start Menu>Terminals>and choose "Konsole". When the console opens (looks like a DOS window), type "kdesu konqueror" without the quotes, at the prompt. A password box will appear--type in the password you set for your "root" (administrator) account during the install. Konqueror will open with root permissions and you can browse and read logs and even edit files to your heart's content.
BTW--leave your "reply to" blank when posting to the list. Otherwise a reply will go directly to your e-mail account unless the person replying notices and changes the "To". e
