Hi everyone,

I'm not positive how to explain the problem, will do my best.

I have a KISS technologies coolview3 monitor, tft widescreen 17".
Graphics card is a Creative GeForce2 GTS

Under mandrake 10.1 I got a decent picture, under 2005 LE I have
problems. I think xorg is the significant change - so could be related
to that.

The colour of the display is darker, and there are stripes across the
screen horizontally that match darker parts of windows.

eg the title bar of a window in middle of the screen 'bleeds' left and
right as does any instance of a darker colour on my screen.

Is this some issue with my graphics card, or my monitor, and suport
for them in xorg?

Do the symptoms sound familiar to anyone?

many thanks for any help offered

Well, I don't have any direct experence, but you may want to double
check the monitor settings in your config. You may be using ether too
high a frequency, or just one the monitor doesn't like. I am more used
to monitors going blank (newer monitors) or letting out the "magic
smoke" (older monitors) when driven at too high a frequency, but it is
worth looking into.

The monitor settings are those that I used in 10.1 - and that I use in windowsXP. SO I don't think it's that.

I don't suppose the nv driver in xorg is 'known' to be problematic?

   As root,

'urpmi monitor-edid' if it isn't already installed, and then...
'monitor-edid'

The output will end in the preferred resolution and modeline for your particular monitor, read directly from the monitor's firmware. The is the one you should have in xorg.conf and the one you should choose when running 'XFdrake' (or from mcc).

I use the nv driver on 2006.0, and have for several MDV versions for years with a GeF4. It is not the problem.
