Hi rosemary-
I seem to remember running into this same problem a while back, and
I think it had to do with the monitor config I chose while
installing. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I did to fix
it (that was a frustrating day, if I recall).
Does ctrl-alt-del work to reboot, or ctrl-alt-esc to kill whatever
programs are in the way (hold the cursor on the program window and
ctrl-alt-esc, brings up a skull-and-crossbones, then hit enter).
If all else fails, main switch, reset button, or power cord!
