In the CONTROL PANEL, choose COMPUTER MANAGEMENT => SERVICES => Locate Security Center and disable it. Locate Windows Firewall and disable it. Then go to MY NETWORK CONNECTIONS => choose the PROPERTIES for the LAN connection and make sure that TCP/IP is set for DHCP and that under ADVANCED there is NO firewall setup. Close all windows. Open a CMD prompt and THEN type: ipconfig /release => wait => ipconfig /renew => for giggles and grins, then type: ping ftp.planetmirror.com You SHOULD, at this point, be able to access anything and everything. FYI, if you really want to use a good firewall (free one, as in *Beer*, get the Sygate Personal Firewall at www.sygate.com => it's great and very easily configurable and not as freaky as ZoneAlarm.) <snip> > TIA > > Kaj Haulrich.
