First thing to check is do you have device /dev/raw1394 (Note that is /dev/raw1394 not /dev/raw/1394). In 10.1 the original version of udev did not create it, if you do not have it issue /bin/mknod -m 666 /dev/raw1394 c 171 0 in a root terminal. If this fixes things make it persistent by adding the command to /etc/rc.d/rc.local. An update to udev fixed this problem. If this does not fix things check that modules raw1394, dv1494 and video1394 are loaded. HTH -- Pete Ardnamurchan Scotland
