PLEASE, how can I stop it trying to start ppp0, as I can't run the

Very many thanks to you or anyone else who can help.

Cheers

Boot with a LiveCd such as MandrakeMove/PCLOS/Knoppix and edit the file etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 on the Mandrake Partition to say ONBOOT=no

derek

Keith; Boot your system as usual. When you get to the Lilo screen, press escape and type the name of your normal linux kernel (probably shown as just plain 'linux' - without the quotes).

When it starts to boot and you see th words Mandriva Linux in bright blue, quickly press the Shift + I keys - You'll have to be quick on this step. Don't be afraid to hit the Shift + I key sequence several times just to make sure. It won't cause you any grief. Once it finishes loading the file systems, it will stop at a step-by-step boot up.

Answer yes for everything except start the network connection called 'ppp0' and also the 'ADSL' service. Everything else should simply be a process of hitting the Enter key, since 'Yes' is the default answer.

You should be good to go at that point.
