The first is to simplify your config. Try is as something like this:
DEVICE=wlan0 ONBOOT=no USERCTL=yes WIRELESS_MODE=Managed WIRELESS_ESSID=MAirNet WIRELESS_ENC_KEY=aaaa123456 NEEDHOSTNAME=no PEERDNS=yes Depending on the setting of the wireless router, you may also need to add: WIRELESS_IWCONFIG="key restricted" I need it, but I have my router set to only accept encripted connections with a shared key. Without the shared key, you can not do DHCP to get an IP address. It tends to frustrate some people because it looks like their NIC isn't working when they try to connect. I would definitly remove "HWADDR=00:00:00:00:00:00" and "NETMASK=255.255.255.0". HWADDR because I am not sure what kind of matching is being done, but it will ether match everything, so why have it, or match nothing, and so the config will not be used. (00:00:00:00:00:00 isn't a valid hardware address.) You should never used a netmask with DHCP. The netmask is specified as part of the DHCP information... Another way to troubleshoot is to turn of encription, use a minimal config file, and get that working. Then add encription back in when you are sure the NIC itself is working. One problem with using a GUI to configure the interface is that you can get a lot of added junk in the config file - especialy if you reconfigure a couple of times. Sometimes this is the cause of things not working right... Mikkel -- Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with Ketchup!
