When you open printerdrake and select your printer, you can either select
the one included with CUPS, or install the one above. They are probably
exacly the same, but it never hurts to have it on hand.
From what I saw on the site, your printer is completely supported and
works very well with CUPS, so I doubt youĺl have any problems with it,
but FWIW, this is where youĺl find the drivers.
I have been working through the instructions at linuxprinting.org and still
no success.
I installed the appropriate PPD and checked out everything else I could
find related to CUPS, ESP Ghostscript and Foomatic. Everything seems to be
in the right place with correct permissions but nothing prints.
lpstat says the printer is printing the job but then has a message "unable
to send to printer, no such device." (I'm speaking from memory from day
before yesterday since, I'm on the Win 98 side of my dual-boot right
now. I'm trying to migrate permanently to linux and getting the printer to
work is the most important issue at this point.)
My next step, according the Troubleshooting instructions from linuxprinting
is to turn on the debugging and get more detailed info.
Someone suggested that it is a hardware problem. I have an AMD Athlon AGP
Motherboard and Athlon 1Ghz processor.
Any comments would be appreciated. Later today I hope to have a chance to
work with it again and get some more debugging info which might give you
better insight.
Matt
