Ron, if someone bought a Dell machine with XP installed and took it off, replacing it with Linux, do you know if it would invalidate their guarantee?

I am running Mdk10 on my Dell that I had to buy with XP. I told them
that I did not need an OS, but they could not sell it without then.
I asked them about guarantee if I take off XP. That was no problem,
according to the sales people. I asked them to send me an e-mail to
confirm that, and they did.

Dell Denmark will not sell you a laptop without an OS. When asked why not, they claim that it's a "contractual clause". Then - after a long pause - the man said : "...but we can sell you a laptop with a rudimentary DOS pre-installed. In that case it'll be able to boot and you'll save DKr 186 ($30).

So I figure $30 is the Microsnot tax.
