To save download bandwidth any package that is installable from CDs will be done that way. You can get all of them by download, saving the CD shuffle, by going to Mandrake Control Center and finding the entry that's something like "configure your sources". Uncheck the CD sources. You haven't removed them, and can always get them back if you ever need to.
