Do not set a Fully Qualified Domain Name unless you actually own that domain even if its a made up one. Otherwise all sorts of odd things will happen. None of them good. For example me.mymadeupdomain is OK because it does not resolve to a top level domain, but me.mymadeupdomain.net will be interpreted as a subdomain under the top level domain .net > > By the way this is cooker x86-64. should the postfix thing be reported as a > bug? No it isn't a bug. Postfix needs to know the name of your local domain otherwise it cannot know what mail addresses are local and which are remote. Your hostname is currently just "localhost" without a domain name. If you change it to "localhost.localdomain" for example, then Postfix will stop complaining. But since you do not want to run a mail server all this is academic. Uninstall Postfix and you will not be troubled by any more messages. derek -- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
