I'll have a big glass. OOoooppps, wrong Wine.
I installed Wine from the setup disks for LE2005. I then did a search for
it. As usual with Linux scattered bits and pieces all over the place. The
one thing it doesn't do is put some sort of icon or something to start it
somewhere. There seem to be some executable files in usr/bin but they don't
seem to do anything. Just how the heck do I get running?
The trouble with Wine is that it usually has to be tweaked for each Windows
application you run under it. For a newbie this can be quite a challenge.
(I find it a challenge too)
There are commercial versions of Wine such as Codeweavers Crossover Office
(www.codeweavers.com) and Transgamings Cedega (www.transgaming.com) that allow
you to install and run several Windows applications and games easily.
(Except none of the Windows games I actually own work with Cedega)
Perhaps there is a native Linux application you could use instead of whatever
it is you are trying to run under Wine?
derek
Try :
# urpmi xwine
And see if that helps at all.
