As it turns
out, although Mandriva recognized my monitor and ATI graphics card, it
seems to have picked the wrong driver as a default. I was getting an
error telling me to change something. There aren't many options to
change so I selected another driver. Things seem to be working fine now.
In the errata Mandriva says that the free drivers for ATI and Nvidia had
some possible issues because of Xorg 6.9, and recommends using the
manufacturer's drivers rather than the GPL drivers if you have problems.
Things seem to be working fine after I selected another driver during
setup. Thanks for your help.

I have the 2006 powerpack version with the commercial drivers included
and didn't have any trouble at all with my Nvidia card using the
Mandriva supplied 7676 driver and dkms.
Previously in 2005LE it was necessary to compile and install the Nvidia
driver manually to get things working.
3-D accel is working fine on 2006. I get about 12,200 fps on my PNY
GeForce 6800GT card.
