I am looking for information about using/setting a mandriva box as a DNS
server but seem to me like some sites are not available. Sites I've
tried are:

Any other places where I can learn how to use Mandriva for DNS? Because
of my limited experience with linux, I would rather check a site for
Mandriva instead of a general use of DNS servers under linux.
So far I have only done mandriva installations for workstation (my
laptops) and have not yet explored the 'Server' installation. I would
probably tried in a few mins, so feedback is appreaciated.
Is this a NDS server that will be accessable from the Internet, or just
for a local network? It makes a big difference in what software you want
to look at. Once you have selected the program, there isn't much
Mandriva specific setup, and that is realy done by the RPM. About all
you have to do is turn the server on after you have it configured, and
that is the same for just about any server you would want to run.
DNS server setup is about the same no matter what version of Linux you
are running. There may be a difference in where the zone files are
stored, but that is normaly covered by the config file in /etc. The
configuration of the zone files themselves will be the same, and will be
covered by the documentation for the server.
