Although I have been using Mandrake for years and have built at least
100 computers I have never done any networking aside from a simple
connection to a DSL modem. Well Now things are changing I now have a
second computer DSL modem and a router all connected together.
Is there a simple guide to get a small home network working in Linux?
Can anyone here point me to a usefull URL? Or maybe recommend a good but
simple book?

   Thanks in advance

Marc,
I am not sure I understand your setup. Do you want to run 2 DSL
connections on one network? Or are you is your network 1 DSL modem,
a router, and 2 computers?

Mikkel

You got it right on your second guess. I have 1 DSL modem, 1 router and 2 computers. All the hardware is installed and the 2 computers are sharing the DSL connection. Where I am hung up is getting the 2 computers to share files and a printer.
Sorry, I guess I should have given a bit More detail in my first post.

    Thanks

Ok. The first thing to be aware of is that if you are running a
firewall on the computers, they will have a hard time talking to
each other. Because you are behind the firewall on the router,
you may want to turn them off while you get print and file sharing
working, and then enable the firewalls and open the holes you need.
(service shorewall stop)

Cups will let you share printers. For file sharing, you can use NFS,
Samba, or some of the newer file sharing protocols, depending on
what want to do. You can find a fair amount of information, and
links to more sites at:
