If you are just looking to do a small static website just use nvu.
However may I suggest as long as your host supports php mysql and apache
aka (LAMP) to try a content management system like http://joomla.org
Just another option. There are many themes available and you can easily
switch themes for a different look.

Beat me to the punch on LAMP, but I use and recommend drupal.org for a cms. For a taste of all the available ones out there, try http://www.opensourcecms.com/ which has online demos.

Cheers!

I support an earlier reply to get you started and that was OpenOffice. Easy to switch between syntax and view to have some control and as you get back into it, real easy to hand code where you need to.

I usually get others started with OOo then introduce them to Bluefish when they start getting carried away, though after a little humble pie on their part, they soon get to leave me for dead.
