Then, the only option for a command-line that hasn't been mentioned, I 
think, is that you can hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 for a console, and return to X 
with Ctrl-Alt-F7.  This is the X that you were using previously, 
though, so Ctrl-Alt-Backspace if you need to restart X.
