Hmmm.....
Well, the only thing showing in /dev so far is:
cdrom, cdrom0, cdrom1 and cdrw0.
I only have 2 CD drives on the IDE BUS (one CDROM and a CDRW), and this one on
the parallel port... I'm also showing parport0 in there too.....
Maybe a udev rule is needed?
Cheers,
James
Did you get an error message in the logs something like this:
Dec 16 14:33:30 thinkpad kernel: pda: epat 1.02, Shuttle EPAT chip
c6 at 0x3bc, mode 2 (8-bit), delay 1
Dec 16 14:33:30 thinkpad kernel: devfs_mk_dir: invalid
argument.<4>devfs_mk_dev: could not append to parent for /disc
Dec 16 14:36:30 thinkpad kernel: _devfs_find_entry(): too short
Dec 16 14:36:30 thinkpad kernel: devfs_remove: /disc not found,
cannot remove
I had this with the Shark. /dev/pda was created, but because of
the /disc error, the drive didn't work. After creating /dev/disc,
and reloading the dp module, things worked file.
If you are having the same type of error, then /dev/cdrom1 is
probably the external CD. But the driver didn't completely install.
