Anne,
I think this is only for remote CUPS clients, not remote Windows
printers. I have thing in /etc/cups/printers.conf for a remote
Windows printer.
<Printer LaserJet_IIIp>
Info HP Laserjet IIIp
Location Office
DeviceURI smb://randy/hp
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>
This is for a Laserjet 3P connected to a Win98 machine called
"RANDY" with the printer share name of "hp". I suspect that what
is needed here is something like:
<Printer HP Deskjet>
Info HP Deskjet printer
Location Jean's XP machine
DeviceURI smb://jean/hpdeskjet
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>
But I would use CUPS to create it in any case.
