That might be it then, you're still using the stock driver and I had updated, 
allowing the NVidia installer to make changes to xorg.conf. I'd be curious if 
that link is missing for anyone else who updates.

Yes, mostly anthing with 3D acceleration was unstable as all get out. I mean, 
sometimes my son couldn't even get into a game in Rune (for example without 
it locking up or crashing hard.

Its all solid as can be now, he played some games, including Rune for about 6 
hours this morning with no problems.
