[newbie] installation

  Why is it that during installation,  some sections are getting skipped 
that previously were not? Two of them are security and much later the 
opportunity to do updates.  The updates are not needed during the 
installation and should not be causing problems, but the security thing is 
important.  It just skips right over them.
