Do you know if its a full modem or a win modem ? Try connecting
it to your serial port (while the machine is switched off) and
go into MDV's control centre - hardware. and have a look at what
MDV has seen it as. If its a full modem any linux distro will
see it as a modem. if its a win modem (software type) it may
appear under "un known others". Copy and past the details into
an email and post to the list. Software modems save production
costs by emulating the modem chip in software rather than having
a chip on the modem board. I kept my external modem which I used
on my linux (smoothwall) firewall after upgrading to a cable
connection as it was com patable with Linux and my Psion S5.
(You may also need a null modem adaptor, though I might have
needed that for the Psion not quite sure)
